Armani Hotel
Dubai, April 2010

With suites costing up to 11,000 dollars for one night, Italian designer Giorgio Armani entered the hotel scene with a bang in the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper.

Designed in plain shades of black and brown, it occupies the bottom floors of the tower and also holds the world’s largest LCD television set.

The Oberoi Mumbai
Mumbai, India, April 2010

The landmark Oberoi hotel reopened following massive renovations in the wake of the Mumbai bombings.

Two new restaurants were installed and all 73 suites and 214 guest rooms were refitted.

New York, USA, April 2010

Shanghai Peace Hotel
Shanghai, China, July 2010

Fairmont‘s Peace Hotel was closed for three years as part of a project to restore it to its 1930′s glory.

Modern touches have been added but kitschy areas such as the Dragon Restaurant remain, along with a gallery of artifacts from the original property.

Kempinski Nile
Cairo, Egypt, July 2010

Cairo’s most luxurious property to date opened on the banks of the Nile in July, with four restaurants, spa, health club and butler services for guests staying in one of the 137 rooms.

Edition Waikiki
Honolulu, Hawaii, October 2010

The long-awaited boutique property by Marriott and Ian Schrager opened its doors to its first customers in October.

London’s most famous property reopened its doors after a multi-million pound refurbishment.

NH Palacio de Tepa
Madrid, Spain, November 2010

The new luxury flagship from Spanish chain NH combines five-star luxury with a sense of history in the heart of bustling Madrid.

The hotel is built in the former palace of the Marqueses de Tepa and offers 85 guestrooms, two restaurants under Michelin-starred Paco Roncero, a spa and gym.

Shangri-La Paris
Paris, France, December 2010

Shangri-La made its much-anticipated debut in the French capital as the last major opening of the year.

Its new Paris property offers 81 rooms and three restaurants (two opening in 2011), in the former residence of Prince Napoleon Bonaparte.

    Two hotels in Singapore were named trendiest hotel in Asia by Tripadvisor. This year will be tougher as Marina Bay Sands hotel will surely compete for the World’s Best Hotel…
