Purity Vodka: pure, full-bodied, complex and loaded with character

Purity Vodka is the result of a long lasting quest to redefine vodka, bringing character to a spirit which by tradition is more one of image and style rather than substance.

Daring to stand out from the crowded cluster of neutral, mainstream vodkas, Purity has not been made to please everyone. It is full-bodied, complex and loaded with character yet, nevertheless smooth and sophisticated. A slightly out of balance sensation you might say.

Combining heritage and innovation, Purity Vodka comes to life in a proprietary pot still at the Purity Vodka Distillery at Ellinge Castle in the south of Sweden. Unlike other vodka producers, Purity has developed a still designed specifically for vodka production. During the thirty-four distillations, ninety percent of the liquid is lost. The remaining spirit is so pure that no filtration is necessary, leaving all the natural flavours and character in the vodka. Because taste does matter.

“SETTING A NEW STANDARD FOR VODKA”
“Purity is not reminiscent of any other vodka. It’s soft, mellow and warming rather than fiery. It has quite a fruity character with oily elements. It is packed with minerals and has a delicious sweet-and-salty accent which can be seen as a textbook example of umami. Purity should not be compared with traditional vodkas. It is a redefinition of the vodka category. 98 points” Lifestyle magazine, No 4 2009/2010

Purity Vodka is the result of a master blender’s quest to develop and produce the world’s finest ultra premium vodka. After a decade of redefining the recipe for Purity Vodka, the multi awarded Master Blender Thomas Kuuttanen has succeeded in his quest to redefine vodka developing a vodka different to all others with a maximum of character and a full-bodied, smooth taste. Thomas Kuuttanen is one of Sweden’s most famous Master Blenders with prominent whiskey, liqueurs, gin, vodka and aquavit in his portfolio.

Purity has proven its superiority by winning repeated gold medals in all of the most prestigious spirit competitions such as the International Wine & Spirit Competition, Distillata and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The combination of a unique production process and a devoted master blender results in an ultra-premium vodka, which has set a new standard for vodka. The perfect cut.

Purity Vodka comes to life in a proprietary pot still made of copper and gold at 13th Century Ellinge Castle in the south of Sweden. Purity Vodka is made exclusively from natural ingredients including estate grown wheat and barley.

Unlike other vodka producers, Purity Vodka has, together with the renowned engineer Leif Nerhammar, developed a proprietary still designed specifically for vodka production. The still has a mash volume limited to 600 liters (158 US gallons) and allows the distiller up to 65,536 settings to the recipe when distilling.

The pot still process, which can only be carried out in small batches, is both labor intensive and demanding, but the result is unsurpassed. During the thirty-four distillations, ninety percent of the liquid is lost and only the “perfect cut” is selected as the heart of Purity Vodka. This final spirit, reaching 96% vol. (192 Proof), is so pure that no filtration is necessary, thus leaving all the natural flavours and character in the vodka.

The refined spirit is then carefully reduced by using a mix of 70% deionised water and 30% natural, mineral rich water, and blended with tailor made organic column spirits which are made from the very finest wheat.

“Small-batch distillation in a pot still results in an astonishingly smooth vodka loaded with character. Its oily texture is dominated by minerals and umami, backed up by delicate tones of white chocolate, vanilla and liquorice. Purity Vodka is the crown jewel of ultra premium vodka.” Drinks International Nov/Dec 2009
