The results for the Decanter World Wine Awards
(DWWA) were published on May 17th at the London International Wine Fair. The annual DWWA is one of the worlds best known wine competitions. This year there were 12,252 entries, 11% up on last year, (161 wines arrived from Slovenia), with judges awarding regional trophies, medals (gold, silver and bronze) and commendations.
Between Slovenian wines the greatest winners were Sutor and Dveri-Pax who won regional trophies. Sutor for his Chardonnay 2008 (white-still) and Dveri-Pax for Šipon (Furmint) – Slamnato vino 2009 (white-sweet).
Golden medals for Ščurek, Sutor, Prus, Dveri-Pax, Krainz and Lubaj. Excellent white varieties. Prus has sent three wines and has won two golden and one silver medal. Marjan Simčič has won six silver medals. Edi Simčič has sent two wines and has won two silver medals. Marof is good again too. Congratulations also to Ščurek!
