Fred Perry to Release Amy Winehouse Collection
British house Fred Perry has announced that it will release the Fall 2011 pieces designed in collaboration with late singer Amy Winehouse. The Grammy Award-winning songstress had completed at least three collections prior to her untimely death in July.
Fred Perry said the brand had consulted the singer’s family before deciding to go ahead with the release. The collections are expected to reflect the singer’s signature 1950s-inspired rock-glam aesthetic. “Amy was passionate and dedicated to the collaboration, and her signature style is clearly stamped across each piece,” Fred Perry said.
Amy Winehouse’s father said that the decision was made in conjunction with plans to set up a foundation in her name: “Amy loved working on both collections, and would want them to be made available. All the money we make and the donation that Fred Perry will give will go straight into to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which we are setting up to help children and young people in her name.”
In a press statement, the label added: “Amy’s royalties and fees from both collections will be donated to the soon-to-be-established Amy Winehouse Foundation. Fred Perry will also make a seasonal donation to the Foundation.”
