The title is awarded by the Brunello winery whose name it bears, Casato Prime Donne, which is the first winery to be totally staffed by women in Italy. In exactly the same way as the ‘all woman run winery’ is a role model for women to show them what they can achieve, the award is designed to enhance the role of women both in society and at work. In this part of Tuscany, which produces the wonderful Brunello di Montalcino and the Doc Orcia, in addition to the ‘Prima Donna’, the award emphasizes the work of those who have divulged the Brunello di Montalcino and Doc Orcia territories with articles, photographs and television broadcasts.
