Latin America’s 50 best restaurants returns to Lima, Peru, in September 2014
The second edition of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, will be unveiled on 3rd September 2014 in Lima, Peru.

Following a successful launch in 2013, the awards return to celebrate the gastronomic diversity and quality of Latin America. Organised by William Reed Business Media – the people behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants series – the ceremony sees the unveiling of the 2014 list of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, as voted for by over 250 industry experts from across the region.
The evening also includes the presentation of prestigious prizes including the Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award; the Veuve Clicquot Latin America’s Best Female Chef; and a new award: Latin America’s Best Pastry Chef, sponsored by Cacao Barry. The ceremony culminates in the announcement of The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Latin America, which is followed by a true Latin American party.
The inaugural Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2013 provided the first credible and trusted list dedicated to the restaurant industry in the region, based on the established model created by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. It is the result of an industry-led vote drawn primarily from culinary professionals, with voters spread across all parts of the continent.
Last year, Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio triumphed with his flagship Lima restaurant Astrid y Gaston taking the number one ranking, and Gaston himself picking up the Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award. Chef Alex Atala’s Sao Paulo restaurant D.O.M was at number two and named The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Brazil.
Enrique Olvera of Pujol in Mexico City picked up the 2013 Chefs’ Choice Award, sponsored by Telefonica, as voted for by chefs from the restaurants named in the list. The Veuve Clicquot Latin America’s Best Female Chef title went to Helena Rizzo of Mani in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Remanso do Bosque in Belem, Brazil was named as the One To Watch, sponsored by BBVA. In 2014, the Highest Climber Award, sponsored by Zacapa, and Highest New Entry Award, sponsored by LesConcierges, will also be added to the line-up.
