Le strade della mozzarella (Mozzarella roads) in London
Campania, the region, which is known as stunningly beautiful (who doesn’t know the beauties of Neaples, Pompei, Ischia, Capri, Sorrento and all the Amalfi coast?), is also a region of the wonderful warmhearted people and some of the best gourmet products. One of my favourites is a special tomato, called pomodorino di piennolo which grows on Vesuvius, the sweetest and most intense tomato I have ever eaten (and I tried many of them). Campania is also the region where the great mozzarella di bufala comes from, best pasta and many other ingredients. It is also the region of some of the best Italian chefs and pizzaioli, the traditional soft sublime Neapolitan pizza.
When such a region comes to London to present their products you know you can’t miss this event. Not just because of the pleasures for palate, I was also happy to see again some people I know already since long time and who I deeply respect.
The event Le Strade della Mozzarella took place at hotel Baglioni in Kensington and presented:
We had the pleasure to enjoy THE TRUE NEAPOLITAN PIZZA by Francesco & Salvatore Salvo, masters pizzaiolos from San Giorgio a Cremano – Naples who explained the rules to prepare the real Neapolitan Pizza.
We got to taste Mozzarella di Bufala Campana, Pasta di Gragnano (Pastificio dei Campi) and the famous italian tomatoes paired with Italian wines and craft beers.
There were also cooking demos with chef Michele Deleo, Rossellinis Restaurant * – Palazzo Avino, Ravello and Chef Andrea Aprea, Vun *, Park Hyatt, Milan.
Master ice-cream maker Simone Bonini (Carapina) created delicious buffalo milk “gelato”.
Cooking demos, tastings and presentations were introduced by Italian journalist and anchorman Guido Barendson, with contributions by fellow journalists Luciano Pignataro, Teresa Cremona and Luciana Squadrilli.
A big thanks to all for the invitation and for bringing a piece of Campania to London.
